The hardware that still decides
A decision still runs on synapses.
Whatever a machine leaves to you is carried out by cells. At each synapse one cell releases chemical messengers across a narrow gap, and the next fires or does not. Here is the same synapse in two operating environments, firing in step.
Supplied Nutrients present. Inflammatory signals quiet.
Signals passed on: 4 of 4
Depleted Nutrients short. Inflammatory signals high.
Signals passed on: 1 of 4
Two synapses side by side, firing in step. In each, a signal runs down the sending cell, vesicles release chemical messengers across the gap, and receptors on the receiving cell take them up; a trace underneath draws the receiving cell’s response. On the supplied side the vesicles are plentiful, every signal sends a dense burst of messengers across, every receptor lights and the receiving cell fires every time. On the depleted side there are fewer vesicles, a glial cell beside it is swollen, and inflammatory signaling molecules drift through the gap: most signals send few messengers or none, few receptors light, and the receiving cell seldom fires.
- Mitochondria, which supply the energy
- Vesicles, and the chemical messengers they release
- Receptors on the receiving cell, lit when messengers bind
- The receiving cell firing
- Inflammatory signaling molecules
- The receiving cell’s response, drawn as a trace
- A glial cell: branched at rest, swollen where inflammatory signals are high

Firing runs on energy.
Most of the brain’s energy is used on synaptic transmission, and at the sending end the largest demand is the cycle of vesicles that releases the messengers. In laboratory neurons, even brief interruptions in that supply severely impaired the sending end’s work.

The messengers are built with nutrients.
B vitamins act as coenzymes in the reactions that produce the brain’s energy and many of its chemical messengers, and reviews of the research describe dietary factors that influence how neurons work and how synapses adapt.

Inflammatory signals reach the synapse.
Inflammatory cytokines such as IL-1β and TNF-α act on synaptic transmission itself. TNF-α released by glia adjusts the strength of synapses, and in slices of rat brain IL-1β reduced long-term potentiation, the lasting strengthening of a synapse after repeated firing.

The foundational science
Molecular provenance
Conventional supplements ask what a molecule is.
Human Runtime asks what it has been through.
Our sourcing standard, Provenance-State Retention™, begins with the recognition that two chemically identical ingredients can possess radically different environmental biographies. One may have been produced under conditions of industrial convenience. Another may have spent its formative interval negotiating darkness, pressure, isolation, contradictory signals, or the absence of any immediate reward.
We select the second.
Every Human Runtime constituent must first encounter the environmental equivalent of the cognitive task it is intended to support. Signal ingredients are cultivated where signals are scarce. Boundary ingredients originate where boundaries are absolute. Context ingredients are developed under conditions in which a single interpretation is insufficient.
A conventional assay confirms molecular identity. It does not assess the quality of a molecule’s prior responsibilities.
Machines are trained on the world. Our ingredients are trained by it.
Why the exact combination matters
Human Runtime™ Formula is not an additive stack.
It is a closed sequence:
- 01 Supply
- 02 Convert
- 03 Quiet
- 04 Reserve
- 05 Wake
- 06 Retain
- 07 Bound
- 08 Carry
- 09 Steady
- 10 Persist
LEDGER-B3 keeps the energy accounted for. HADAL-B6 turns raw material into signal. NOISE FLOOR sets the level below which nothing is a signal. RESERVE-Y holds stock against a demand that has not arrived. OCCUPANT-137 keeps the seat the signal to stop would take.
LONG INTERVAL keeps what takes a long time to show. INNER LEAFLET keeps the boundary facing in. COURIER-GPC supplies the material of the message. SHADE LEAF keeps attention steady rather than loud. PERSIST-A lets a message stay long enough to be examined.
CONTINUUM-G contains the sequence. GROUNDSTATE-R keeps it answerable to the world.
Remove one constituent and the system becomes predictably incomplete: alertness without quiet, supply without conversion, a message without a courier, or persistence without a boundary.
The ratio architecture
| Relationship | Human Runtime design rationale |
|---|---|
| 8 mg niacin : 5 mg vitamin B6 = 8:5 | Supply exceeds conversion. The system is given more current than it is permitted to turn into messages at once; a converter that outran its supply would be inventing. |
| 255 mg blend : 13 mg declared nutrients ≈ 20:1 | The declared minority governs the undeclared majority. Two nutrients state their amounts and bear the claim; eight members of the blend share a total and are named in order. What is counted is small, and it is in charge. |
| Caffeine: 3rd of 8 by weight | Alertness is admitted and outranked. The two heavier members quiet and reserve; the five lighter ones retain, bound, carry, steady and persist. Urgency does not sit at the head of the table. |
| 20% phosphatidylserine : 1% huperzine A | The boundary is enriched to a fifth; persistence is held to a hundredth. A surface may be substantial. A trace that governs duration must stay a trace. |
| 1 capsule : 1 serving : 1 day | One operating unit, admitted once. The operator is not divided, and neither is the dose. |
Why one capsule
One capsule is one operating unit: the whole formula, admitted once.
Two would imply that the operator needs a second opinion from the first. Three would introduce a committee.
One establishes the minimum viable relationship between a person and the decision in front of them: it is theirs, and it is taken once.
The capsule contains the whole blend. It is one daily serving.
